PLANNING :

It was planned to arrange the Sealdah railway station on the basis of the airport, long ago.  Finally, the plan was implemented in Sealdah before Bengali New Year.  As a part of that plan, a new Executive Lounge was inaugurated at Sealdah Station on Monday.  The lounge is covered with glass wall, comfortable sofa, modern toilet, LCD TV, soft playing system. There is also a choice of foods and drinks.  According to the demand of the railways, there has been a lot of change in Sealdah station in the last few years.  Now,  long distance trains leave from Sealdah for a whole day.  This number will increase further in the future. That is why a large number of passengers have to wait at Sealdah station. Many passengers have to face many difficulties during the dawn or very late night train, so that the lounge has been opened keeping in mind the passengers' convenience.

RESPONSIBILITY OF FOOD AND OTHER BEVERAGES :

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has the responsibility of serving food in this lounge.

 OPENING :

Due to the seasons of the election, the railway authorities did not perform too much to open the lounge. Two female ticket checkers inaugurated the lounge on Monday.

BENIFITS OF THE LOUNGE :

This lounge located in first floor can be made in the elevator.  There are 50 sitting arrangements at the same time. It will be open for 24 hours. It is not mandatory to have a ticket to save the session.  If you want to save the seats here, you have to pay 100 rupees for a minimum of 2 hours.  After that tea coffee and drinking water are available.  If you want to spend more than two hours, you will have to pay 50 rupees per hour.  If someone buys food worth 500 or more, the first two hours of money will be waived.

WHAT RAILWAY AUTHORITY HAS SAID :

Railway sources said that there is first-class passenger rehabilitation at Sealdah, but there is not much room for the passengers because they are too much. The new lounge will be able to meet their needs.  In the next few months, in Sealdah, a four-room reatering room and 12-bed dormitories will be opened.  IRCTC Eastern General Manager Debashish Chandra said that this is a very important step in controlling the increasing pressure of passengers.  Railway authorities claim that this new lounge facility is equivalent to the airport. If all the plans are going on, the lounge will open in New Jalpaiguri next month.
