Asha Bhosle received Doctorate Degree at Salford University on 7th October 2019.
Who is not aware of the name and the voice of Asha Bhosle. She has been a constant source of melody and also of inspiration to many. Her work and dedication have won her many honours and a huge deal of respect from all over the world. And yet again, there has been an addition of one more feather in her cap.
On 7th of October 2019, the renowned singer, Asha Bhosle, popularly known as Asha Tai, received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree in recognition of her contribution to the field of music and her role in inspiring future generations to participate in arts and media. Asha Tai received this honour from the hands of Jo Purves, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Salford. This honour was presented to her in a ceremony held at Saint Regis Hotel in Mumbai, India. Purves also praised Asha’s work saying that Asha has constantly been a source of inspiration for music and art lovers throughout the world.

Asha posted a picture on 7th October, in which she wrote: “Receiving the Doctorate from the University of Salford”.
The University of Stalford is a school of art and media and is known since long for supporting Indian culture. The University also sponsors Asian Media Awards. The honour to Asha Bhosle was presented as part of a series of announcements made by a 30-strong delegation from Greater Manchester. The Manchester India Partnership was set up in 2018 to celebrate and strengthen the ties between the UK and India in the fields of education, culture, trade, investment and tourism. It was also announced that the University will sign a memorandum of understanding with Karnataka State Higher Education Council in Bangalore on Wednesday (9th October).

About Asha Bhosle, she was born in Goar in 1933. She became one of the most known and famous singers of all times in India. She has recorded more than 22,000 songs in more than 20 different languages. She was also a Guinness world record winner in 2011 for being the most recorded artist in the history of music. She also received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2000 and was honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
