Who is Barack Obama:
Barack Hussein Obama II is an American lawyer and politician. He served as the 44th president of the United States. His term was from 2009 to 2017. He was the member of the democratic party, he was the first African American president of the United States. He is also the most loved president.
Barack Hussein Obama II was born to Barack Obama sr. Ann Dunham on August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, US. Obama was born to a white mother and a black father. After a few weeks of his birth, Obama and his mother moved to university of Washington in Seattle. The stayed here for a year. During this time elder Obama completed his undergraduate degree in economics in Hawaii.
Obama’s parents got divorced in March 1964. After divorce, Obama’s dad married for the third time. He worked for the Kenyan government as a senior economic analyst in the ministry of finance. Obama’s dad used to visit him once a year during Christmas. Sr. Obama died in an automobile accident when Obama was 21 years old.
When Obama was 3 years old he started studying in St. Francis Pre-education. He studied here until he turned 5. Then from the age of 6, he started studying in local Indonesian-language schools till he turned 10. As he started in Indonesia he spoke Indonesian fluently. When Obama was in Indonesia his stepfather thought him the values of life and how the world works.
Obama graduated from high school in 1979. During his youth days, he had a nickname “Barry “. After graduating Obama moved to Los Angeles to attend Occidental College. He made his first speech, in 1981 calling for Occidental to participate in the disinvestment from South Africa in response to that nation’s policy of apartheid. He graduated in BA degree in 1983. Later in 1995, his mother died due to the unsuccessful treatment for ovarian and uterine cancer.
Two years after graduating from Columbia, Obama moved from New York to Chicago. There he was hired as a director of the developing communities project by a church-based community organization. He worked there from June 1985 to May 1988. He helped many people by setting job training programs. Obama also worked as a consultant and instructor for the Gamaliel Foundation. In 1988 he was selected as editor of the Harvard law review at the end of his first year. He was selected as the president of the journal in his second year. He was also selected as a research assistant to the constitutional scholar Laurence tribe for the next two years.
During summer when he used to go back to Chicago he worked as a summer associate at the law firm of Sidley Austin. After graduating from Harvard in 1991 he returned to Chicago. As the first black president of Harvard law review his election gained a lot of media attention.
Barack Obama was integrated as the 44th president which took place on January 20, 2009. During his first few days in office, Obama issued executive orders and presidential memoranda. This memorandum directed the US military to withdraw troops from Iraq. Obama also reduced the secrecy which was given to presidential records.
The first bill passed by Obama was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009. This law was in order to relax the statute of limitations for equal-pay lawsuits. Five days after this act he signed the reauthorization of the state children’s health insurance program (SCHIP). This program covered an additional 4 million uninsured children. During his first two years, Obama also appointed two women to serve on the supreme court.
On October 30 he lifted the ban on the travel of HIV infected people to the United States. This was celebrated as immigration equality. In April 2010, Obama gave a speech on major space policy where he announced a planned change in direction at NASA, which is the US space agency.
On December 22, 2010, as per the promise made In the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama signed the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act. This act let gay and lesbian people serve in the United States Armed forces. In 2011 state of the union address he focused on themes of education and innovation and the importance of innovation economics which would make the US competitive globally.
During the deepening worldwide recession in 2009 Obama signed the American recovery and reinvestment act of 2009 on February 17, 2009. A $787 billion economic stimulus package aimed at helping economy recovery. This act included increased federal spending for health care, infrastructure, education, various tax breaks and also direct assistance to individuals. He always aimed at the best economic policies during his term.
During his term, the legacy rate was improved in a huge percentage. He bought into force many acts like the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), Health care and Education Reconciliation act, etc. The Obama administration created almost 11.3 million jobs from the month after his first inauguration according to the U.S. Bureau of labor statistics.
Michelle Robinson was employed as a summer associate at the Chicago law firm. She was assigned as Obama’s adviser for three months in this firm in 1989. She joined Obama for several social group functions. She decided on his initial requests to date. Later that summer they began dating. They got engaged in 1991 and were married on October 3rd, 1993. Michelle suffered a miscarriage and later through IVF, they conceived their children. Their first daughter Malia Ann was born in 1998 and later in 2001, their second daughter Natasha was born.
