Jumpstart into politics
His start into the political field was when he started working for the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at the young age of 14 in 1983.
He worked tirelessly towards moving forward and took part in all the activities as a part of the RSS group, and was eventually chosen to be a part of the BYJP party which is an extension of the BJP party for the Youth in 1987. He worked his way through the ranks and eventually rose to fame when he campaigned for Lal Krishna Advani in 1991.
Mr. Shah and Narendra Modi worked side by side and tried to take down the Congress party bit by bit, area by area, and spread the word about BJP. They had similar ideologies and thus formed a very good rapport.
In 1999, Shah was elected the president of the Ahmedabad district Cooperative bank despite the prejudice to elect people of only selected castes and backgrounds. Despite being in loss, Shah used his commendable management skills to turn the bank into a profitable one by the end of his tenure.
He also played a very important role in other political bodies like the Gujarat cricket Association, Gujarat State Chess Association, Gujarat State Financial Association, under Modi’s guidance. He eventually moved onto bigger roles at the central Government when he moved to Delhi and became Modi’s advisor during the period of 1995-2001.
Work as Gujarat’s minister
In 2002, Amit Shah won the Sarkhej Constituency by the widest margin and again in 2007. He held multiple portfolios during his tenure and was a constant comrade to Modi. He passed multiple bills and worked against many Congress-led policies. He worked towards changing the norm of Forced Hindu conversions and terrorism in Gujarat, impressing his seniors.
Entry into Central government politics
because of his excellent managing skills as a politician, Shah was nicknamed the “modern-day Chanakya”. He had many criminal charges against him, but despite this fact, he was elected the opportunity to head the UP party by Rajnath Singh.
His one groundbreaking decision which won the hearts of the OBC crowd in UP was the increase in the reservation percentage in education and jobs. He oversaw a lot of the political work himself and went home to home to procure votes many times.
He set up media coverage even in the remotest parts of the country to analyse the election system. He improved the overall involvement of the RSS of which he was a part previously in his youth, thereby improving the party’s efficiency.
His ideologies were to target the Hindi Nationalist sector of the country, leading to many accusing him of making politics based out of religious standings. He was responsible for many of the giant rallies held by Modi which proved efficient in bringing in votes.
He formed many alliances for the party to gain more power and was a constant behind Modi to help him win. He didn’t just act like a puppet to Modi’s commands, but also showed that he had a mind of his own, by standing by his ideologies and disagreeing with Modi on multiple occasions.
Becoming the party president
Amit Shah became the president of BJP after he was voted in by its members on 2014 and 2016. Despite the whirl of controversies surrounding him, he was considered worthy of the position of president amongst his own crew.
The party achieved legislation in many major states except New Delhi and Bihar because of the rule of Congress. Under his leadership, the party gained control of the majority of the Northeastern states and many other states throughout the country. Mr Shah played an instrumental role in ensuring that the name of the Bharatiya Janta Party was known in every nook and corner of the country.
Heading the Home Ministry
The modern-day Chanakya reached further heights when he became the Minister of Home Affairs by a unanimous count of votes in the May of 2019. He is responsible for the major controversial scrapping of Article 370 of the constitution separating Jammu and Kashmir has a state of India and including it as a Union Territory.
Like any renowned political leader, Amit Shah has also been accused of certain disastrous things in his life which have played a role in tainting his reputation to a certain degree.
he was accused of killing Sohrabuddhin and his wife after harassing a marble trader in Rajasthan along with some of his cop friends.
They claimed he had played an instrumental role in order to protect himself and later tried to cover up his wrong doings, which later led to his arrest. Amit Shah was, however, able to get out of the whole mess by denying the Accusations and claiming them to be political agendas planted against him.
He claimed this as a cruel act by the Congress party against him and was ultimately let go with a clean sheet. Because of these accusations, when he was released on bail, there were many petitions to keep the politician in Gujarat and eventually in 2010, he was forcibly exiled out of the state. He was allowed into the state only after 2 years in 2012.
He has been further accused of corruption on multiple occasions and has been said to get his way through bribery. He denied a DGP a promotion repeatedly and sidelined police officer’s request to support them in times of need when they were accused of false encounters during the riots in Gujarat in 2002.
Another Horrendous accusation made against him was in 2013 when he was accused of videotaping a woman illegally. However, later this woman came forward and denied it being against her own will.
