Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an Indian Cricketer and former Indian Cricket Team Captain. MS Dhoni initially recognized as a thunderbolt batsman and has come a long way to cherish his dreams from nowhere to becoming India’s most admiring and loving batsman Dhoni has seen all of it.

He is the most popular Indian Cricketer, putting great leadership into his captaincy he swiped up so many trophies and championships. However, he captained the Indian cricket team for a limited overs format. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also known for his amazing wicket-keeping skills.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is considered as a gem to Indian Cricket Team. He has always faced hardships in the most diligent manner. He made his debut in One Day International (ODI) in the year 2004 December, the match was against Bangladesh. Later, he debuted in test cricket against Sri Lanka.

Background of MS Dhoni’s Life:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His father Pan Singh and mother Devaki Devi. He has a sister Jayanti and a brother Narendra Singh Dhoni in his family. However, a lot of people still don’t know that Dhoni has a brother because the biopic of MS Dhoni didn’t picturised his brother for whatever reason, but he has a brother as well.

Basically, his family belongs to the Almora district of Uttrakhand. MS Dhoni completed his schooling from DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir School in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dhoni used to play football and badminton back in those days and in fact quite passionate about football, he was also a goalkeeper of his football team.

Once, he was sent to play cricket for a local cricket club by his football coach. He appealed to hit the ground as a batsman but his coach instructed him to be a wicket-keeper. Since that day everybody knows who MSD is and what skills he holds. He impressed everyone with his outstanding wicket-keeping skills which resulted in getting him a fixed post of wicket-keeper at the Commando cricket club.

MS Dhoni In Indian Railways:

There was much hype in Dhoni’s life before becoming a successful cricketer. Dhoni’s father pan Singh wasn’t really satisfied with his cricket aspirations and suggested him to join an Indian Railways for secure and betterment of his future. Soon after Dhoni started working as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur railway station. He also got selected to play in the Central Coal Fields Limited and the superb performance of him resulted in earning him a place in the A division team.

Dhoni made his Ranji Trophy debut in 1999-2000 season, where he continued playing and stealing hearts with his stellar performances. Dhoni continued playing in the next couple of Ranji Trophy and Deodhar Trophy season and fixed his position in India A team.

Dhoni’s Cricket Career:

Dhoni is known best for his helicopter shot and as “the finisher” for his thunderbolt performance. Everybody knows when Dhoni is at the pitch he can deal with every hardship and no target is impossible for him.

In 2007 MS Dhoni was termed as a captain of Indian Cricket team for ICC World Twenty20. Being a captain of Indian Cricket team was a very special moment of Dhoni’s career. Dhoni’s magic spread in the air after the victory of the tournament.

Soon after he became the ODI captain and made his test debut as a captain in 2008. By 2013 Dhoni has plotted himself as the most successful Indian Test captain.

MS Dhoni’s Family:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni tied the knot in 2010 with Sakshi Singh Rawat. They first met at the Taj Bengal Hotel, Kolkata where Sakshi was an intern.

They fell in love and soon got married. Sakshi belongs originally from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Ziva Mahendra Singh Dhoni is their love child. Dhoni says my daughter is a huge stress reliever.

Ziva Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become a media darling over the years already, MS Dhoni further says that, wherever I go, people ask me where is Ziva or what is she doing. I am nowhere in the talks.

Unknown facts about MS Dhoni

  • MS Dhoni’s life story was portrayed on the big screen in the movie: MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
  • A book, The Dhoni Touch:  documented the Engima that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was authored by Bharat Sundaresan. The book revolves around Dhoni’s life aspects from early age struggle to entry in the Indian Team.
  • The Indian Territorial Army conferred the rank of Lieutenant colonel to MS in November 2011.

Awards:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni received ICC ODI Player of the year award in 2008,2009. He received Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2007 and Padma Shri in 2009. MS Dhoni received Padma Bhushan in 2018 and ICC world Test XI captain 2009,2010,2013.

Retirement:

Thrilled everyone on December 30 when he announced his retirement from International Test Cricket.

The reason he stated behind his retirement was the extreme strain of playing Cricket in all formats of the game.

He stated that he would rather put his focus and effort in ODIs and T-20 matches. In 2017, January he stepped down from the captaincy position of the Indian ODI and T-20 cricket team.
